Desiree joined Positive Planning Wealth Advisors LLC in September 2024, but her path into financial planning began several years earlier.

She started her career in financial services in 2018 at T. Rowe Price, where she helped clients with their 401(k) plans. It did not take long for her to recognize that money is rarely just about numbers. Financial decisions can be emotional, confusing, exciting and deeply personal - and that realization sparked her interest in financial education and helping people feel more comfortable with the choices in front of them.

At Positive Planning, Desiree provides administrative and operational support throughout the financial planning process. She assists with new client onboarding, prepares and organizes information for financial plans, and helps coordinate the many behind-the-scenes details that keep client service running smoothly. She enjoys taking processes that initially feel complicated, bringing organization and clarity to them, and helping ensure all the pieces come together.

Working alongside Shawn has reinforced one of Desiree's favorite lessons: it is important to understand not only what needs to happen, but why it matters. That mindset has become an important part of the way she approaches client service, problem-solving and her own continued professional development.

Desiree has passed the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 6 and Series 63 examinations and holds Colorado Life and Health insurance licenses. She earned her bachelor's degree in Human Resources in 2022 and continues to expand her financial planning knowledge with the long-term goal of becoming a financial advisor and CFP® professional.

She is particularly interested in behavioral finance and the very human reasons behind the financial choices people make - why people save, spend, avoid decisions, take risks or sometimes know exactly what they should do but still have difficulty doing it. That interest fits naturally with Positive Planning's emphasis on understanding the person behind the financial plan.

Outside the office, Desiree enjoys spending time with her husband, afternoon walks, Colorado's mountains, art festivals and farmers markets. She and her husband also share their home with three cats: Clancy, the sweetheart; Yevette, who makes sure her opinions are known; and Kelso, who provides the household with a healthy dose of orange-cat chaos.

Desiree's philosophy is pretty simple: keep learning, work hard, understand the why and help people whenever you can.
